Afraid of using your boat in unfamiliar waters?

You are not alone, you have that brand new- or new to you- boat sitting on your dock or trailer and now what? Pro-Tip: Go Slow as a Pro! Don’t rush things, don’t go to the boat ramp on the weekends, try Monday or Tuesdays when there is less traffic and get familiar with your new vessel. Use fenders and when docking, use the power-burst method. Retard the trottle 200 feet off the dock after approaching it not faster than 4 mph. See how far current, wind and remaining energy will bring you, take your time. If you are short of the dock, give it a quick burst, and retard immediately. Repeat if necessary and you look like a pro.
